How do I search in Vim?

Vim is a strange but powerful beast. If you never used it or are just learning how to find your way around it, it can be a frustrating endeavor.

So I just want to search. You would figure there would be a simple cmd + f keyboard shortcut but you would be wrong.

In normal mode of Vim just type a forward slash ‘/’ and follow that with your term. To find the next occurrence of your search term type n. And that’s how you do search in Vim.
